Strictly Come Dancing is “hit with a wave covid amongst crew” after Kym Marshall tested positive

Strictly Come Dancing has reportedly been hit by a wave of Covid-19 this week, with many of the crew knocked down by the highly contagious virus.
The outbreak is believed to have led to seven crew and production members testing positive, prompting producers to scramble to ensure the dance competition still runs smoothly.
And it comes because contestant Kym Marsh was the first to test positive, meaning the Coronation Street actress, 46, and her dance partner Graziano Di Prima, 28, were forced to stay out of competition this weekend.

A source reportedly told the publication, “It’s obviously a big blow to get Kym knocked out this week. And then the crew members get sick too.’
Continuing with bosses “praying” that no one else came with Covid, the insider added that while the celebrities are the main event, losing production members could also have a huge impact.

“Runs like a well-oiled machine, but can only do so thanks to the crew, who have to be at their A-game for pretty much the entire series,” the source added.
MailOnline has reached out to Strictly Come Dancing representatives for comment.
Earlier this week, a Strictly spokesperson confirmed that Kym would be out this week due to the virus.
They told MailOnline: ‘Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be participating in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that if all goes well, they’ll come back the following week.”

And the announcement came just two weeks after Kym admitted she nearly left the show after suffering a crippling panic attack just hours before the live show.
The television star is said to have burst into tears before being comforted by twinkling-toed star Graziano ahead of a live show that aired last month.
Former Coronation Street actress Kym, who reportedly considered dropping out of the competition due to her overwhelming anxiety, told The Sun: “It just came over me, almost out of nowhere, and I couldn’t go on.”

Nightmare: ‘Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend,” a source told MailOnline.
It is alleged that Kym struggled to continue dancing, prompting producers to comfort her as she calmed down, and hours later during the live show, she got back on the floor and completed her dance.
Former Hear’Say singer Kym added, “I’ve always suffered from panic attacks. I don’t mind talking about it because I know it can affect anyone at any time.
“Sometimes it’s been ages (since an attack) and then suddenly one strikes.
“Everyone thinks you have to be incredibly confident because you’re on television, but the truth is I’m not always and that’s how it comes across.”

Emotional: And the announcement came just two weeks after Kym admitted she almost left the show after suffering a crippling panic attack just hours before the live show
She added that she didn’t know what had caused the panic attack, thinking it could have been her having had some harsh remarks from the jurors combined with the fact that she had other jobs as well, which left her emotionally and was exhausted.
Kym said she “completely lost her confidence” and “came to pieces,” admitting she didn’t see how she could continue on the show.
Despite having therapy to curb her anxiety, Kym said it can still “stalk up” on her.
Meanwhile, Kym and Graziano got 31 points for their American Smooth to Chasing Cars from Snow Patrol during the show’s eighth episode, which she dedicated to her late son Archie.
He died after giving birth prematurely in February 2009.

The actress said in her VT: “It reminds us of my son Archie. I gave birth to him prematurely and sadly he passed away shortly after.
The emotional star continued, “I feel like by doing this dance it will not only be in memory of Archie, but will also get people talking about their own experiences.”
Kym and her ex-husband Jamie Lomas were heartbroken when their child passed away at just 21 weeks, following a premature birth in February 2009.
Judge Motsi Mabuse said, “The message you were trying to get across, the vulnerability and vulnerability came across, it was so clear. It started so well, I don’t know what happened. There was a sudden change of energy and I don’t know why. There was a great ending and it started so great.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One at 7:15pm on Sunday – when one more couple is eliminated from the competition.
