Sydney-born fashion designer Daniel Patrick has become a favorite of some of the world’s biggest celebrities, models and professional athletes, but as a child he just wanted to play football like his famous father.

Patrick, 38, grew up in the Sutherland Shire and played lower grade rugby league for the Dragons and Roosters.

He is the son of former Australian Test player Pat Jarvis, who played 211 first grade matches with spells at Eastern Suburbs, St George, Canterbury and North Sydney from 1980 to 1991.

Patrick, who recently designed 38 tracksuits for Travis Kelce to give to his Kansas City buddies, launched his high-end streetwear line in early 2012 with the desire to “make the things I wanted to wear and also make them people looked and felt good. .

He’s done just that and now counts stars like Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner among fans of his work.

“In 2006 I was coming to the end of my football journey and was looking for something I wanted to do outside of football,” Patrick said. news corporation.

‘I had been interested in fashion since I was a child and wanted to pursue it as a career.

‘I went to fashion school at the end of 2006 and immersed myself in it.

‘It was one of those overnight successes that took 12 years. A lot of hard work has been done on it.

“I think it’s cool to connect with athletes because growing up as an athlete, it’s pretty organic for me to design that way.”

‘When I started making clothes, I made clothes that fit me well.

“I come from playing league and doing fashion, and I’m not your typical fashion designer, so a lot of the clothes I make cater to those bigger, more athletic guys.”

“I wanted it to be something that any of the teams could wear, any of the team’s fans could wear, but more so that anyone could wear if they weren’t an NRL fan as well,” Patrick said.

“I wanted to do it as a streetwear design that was pretty universal.”
