A confrontation turned deadly when a possible kidnapping turned into a fatal stabbing in Beverly Hills.
The incident occurred in the 100 block of Spalding Drive around 2:50 p.m. and left the alleged kidnapper dead.
Footage from the scene showed officers standing over the unnamed suspect, who was then taken to a nearby hospital and later died.
The man was not identified. Police confirmed Sunday that the altercation occurred after the suspect confronted the victim, a father, and his young son.
Meanwhile, a good Samaritan intervened after seeing the altercation that ensued while driving. He recalled to several media how he saw the suspect attack the man and his baby.

The incident occurred in the 100 block of Spalding Drive around 2:50 p.m. and left the alleged kidnapper (pictured) dead. Footage from the scene showed officers standing over the unnamed suspect, who was later taken to a hospital where he died.
“We realized we had to do something,” the man, who only wanted to be identified as Brian, told KTLA of how he stopped to intervene.
He told KCAL News: ‘I saw someone crossing, who was holding a baby and seemed to be fighting with someone else.
“The baby had fallen and rolled backwards.”
At that point, he said, the attacker turned his attention to him and his own son, who was in the car with him at the time.
“I told my son to get in the car, I rolled up the window but I forgot the back window was open,” she recalled.
‘My dog was in the back. He came in through the back window and grabbed the dog.
Brian and his son fought back, he said, recalling how they both pummeled the visibly confused suspect as his car rolled onto the sidewalk.
After a moment, the suspect let go of him, he recalled, before recounting how he then walked to a nearby house to begin “banging on the windows.”
The man was not identified and the investigation continues, with police confirming Sunday that the altercation occurred after the slain suspect confronted the victim and her son.
A good Samaritan intervened after passing by and seeing the suspect, and recalled how he had been attacking the man and his baby. The man, who only wanted to be identified as Brian, recalled how he stopped to intervene and how the suspect pointed at his dog.
“The people inside were terrified and screaming,” he said, asking that his face not appear at any of the stations.
Aerial shots continued to show Brian’s black van stopped on the sidewalk outside an apartment complex, with the surrounding area cordoned off by police tape.
Several officers were also seen there, and a resident took a close-up showing the suspect’s arrest.
Meanwhile, police added that the suspect was stabbed during the confrontation, referring to him as the “subject” in an initial statement.
“The male subject was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries,” he added.
Police went on to reveal that the other “subject” involved was cooperating with their investigation, before issuing another statement on Sunday that described him as “the victim.”
“The investigation determined that a suspect confronted the victim and her son while they were walking on the sidewalk,” the statement said.
“During the altercation, the victim stabbed the suspect and both individuals suffered injuries.”
Police added that the man has since been released from the hospital after receiving treatment. They have yet to confirm that the incident was a kidnapping, as witnesses suggest.
The Beverly Hills Police Department has not identified any of the parties involved, but confirmed that the man who died was the assailant.

Among them is Sommer Janssen, who told ABC 7 that he saw a couple and their young daughter walking down the street when the suspect tried to grab the girl, prompting the father to fight him and the fight escalating between they.
Brian added that when police arrived, they used a Taser to subdue the man.

The Beverly Hills Police Department has not identified any of the parties involved. Their investigation, as of Monday, was ongoing.
