The survivors in Stranded land on planet 1.0.
It works almost exactly like RimWorld, but uses realistic graphics instead of charming pixel optics: Stranded Alien Dawn has been able to inspire the majority of its players since the Early Access release six months ago.
And now the release of the full version followed. Stranded: Alien Dawn was released on April 25, 2023 as version 1.0 on Steam and the Epic Store.

What is Stranded: Alien Dawn about?
Just like in RimWorld, you end up on an alien planet with only a handful of survivors at the beginning. Extraterrestrial fauna, foreign factions and adverse circumstances complicate your existence. You must manage survival by building a base and accumulating resources.

As you progress, more survivors will be added and you will research more advanced technology that allows the construction of new machines. Then you stomp across the planet with powerful mechs and don’t have to be so afraid of the regular raids of giant insects.
What is the similarity to RimWorld?
The parallels to the indie hit RimWorld are numerous. In addition to the setting and the basic game structure, these concrete aspects are reminiscent of the model:
- Instead of an AI narrator directing random events, Stranded has different moons that affect the world.
- As in RimWorld, tasks can be assigned and prioritized to the most able survivors.
- Working, sleeping and free time can be set to the exact hour.
- Characters have specific strengths and interact socially with each other.
- You have to fend off raids, for example from nasty alien insects.
- Lots of little things, like the melodic relaxation music, also bring back memories of RimWorld.
Learn more about the survival genre and why RimWorld is creating such a strong pull above. Incidentally, not only Stranded was inspired by RimWorld – RimWorld itself was created after the inventor was impressed by another game: Dwarf Fortress. This in turn even inspired the great Minecraft.
