A man has been charged with murder after the body of another man was found in a unit in the Brisbane suburb of Stones Corner (pictured) in the early hours of Friday morning.

A man has been charged with murder after the body of another man was found in a suburban driveway in the early hours of Friday morning.

The 61-year-old man’s body was found when police were called to a property on Vine St in the southern Brisbane suburb of Stones Corner at about 1am to conduct a welfare check.

Police believe the man died after an alleged altercation at the unit around 10 p.m. a week earlier on August 9.

Following a police search, a 40-year-old man was arrested on the Sunshine Coast in the early hours of this morning, shortly after midnight.

He has been charged with murder and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, August 19.

Police say the two men knew each other.

The crime scene investigation continues to determine the exact nature of the man’s death.
