The music legend, 73, and his director wife, 71, who married in 1992, joked about what goes on behind closed doors, decades after the famous claim (pictured in 1992).
“The idea of tantric sex is a spiritual act,” he explained. ‘I know of no purer and better way to express love for another person than to share that wonderful, I call it, ‘sacrament.’ I would keep it. Not seven hours, but the idea.
He then joked: ‘Seven hours includes a movie and dinner,’ drawing laughter from the audience.
In 2011, Trudie said her husband’s original claim about her love life was a drunken boast.
But while she was dismissive of the idea that they “did it all day,” she stopped short of saying that he had lied about the yoga-related practice.
She said: ‘Sting said that 21 years ago. He has just turned 60 and I imagine that (the tantric story) will continue until he drops.
‘Do you know who I blame for that? Bob Geldof. He and Sting had gone to do an interview with a rock journalist, and the interview turned into a drinking session.
“At one point, the reporter asked how long they could last and Geldof said he was a three-minute man, but since Sting did yoga, he could probably last for hours. And Sting said ‘Well, haven’t you heard of tantric sex?’ ‘
‘So Sting explained that it’s about being intimate, about taking care of your partner, about actually being intimate before, you know… having sex. And that’s really the premise of tantra.
“It’s simply a commitment to your partner.”

In another fun moment from the new interview, Sting was asked what his favorite Trudie acting performance was, to which he hilariously responded, “When she was dressed like a dominatrix.”
The couple also admitted that neither of them are fans of SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Sting summed up Musk’s position as “There are no rules and proles can go to hell,” adding, “I think it’s great to go to Mars, but stay there.”
Despite their hilarious antics, the pair are each other’s biggest fans and Sting was every inch a proud husband when he supported Trudie at the Golden Globe Awards in July.
The musician looked dapper as he joined the director on the red carpet, before she was honored with the Best Documentary award.
Trudie opted for an elegant cream lace dress as she prepared to accept the award for her film Posso Entrare? An ode to Naples.
The film details Trudie and Sting’s passion for Italy, and the actress detailed her history with the country at the ceremony, during an interview with People.
She said: ‘Sting and I fell in love with Italy many years ago, so much so that after one of our children was born near Pisa, we spent years looking for a home for all of us. Italy has always been incredibly kind to us.

“Since the 80s, when I made films here in Rome, at Cinecittà, Sting wrote one of his most emotional albums near Pisa, a year after the death of his parents, and at the same time I gave birth to one of our children , Italy has a special place in our hearts for many reasons.’
Sting and Trudie are parents to four children, Mickey, 40, Jake, 39, Eliot, 33, and Giacomo, 28, while The Police frontman also shares son Joe, 47, and daughter Fuschia, 42, with his former Frances Tomelty.
Detailing how the family juggles Trudie and Sting’s busy work schedules, he said they are “proud” of them.
She said: ‘They appreciate that we are busy and satisfied. “All the kids have their own paths and careers and have a good work ethic, so we’re proud of them.”
The outing came after the couple attended the Ivor Novello Awards, where Sting received a scholarship, which is the Academy’s highest honor.
Speaking on the carpet, the British rocker said he “loves” the Ivors Academy and was “delighted” to receive “this wonderful honor.”
He said: ‘Last time I was here I received a lifetime achievement award, which I thought was a bit premature…
“But the scholarship obviously didn’t last a lifetime and it sounds a bit like The Lord of the Rings, but I think there are more duties associated with a scholarship.
‘The Ivors protect the rights of composers; That’s one of the things that not only established composers like me do, but also promising composers.
“Our composition is also a major export of Britain, so they need protection, so I am very proud to be part of this organisation.”
Sting was the leader, songwriter and bassist of the new wave band The Police from 1977 until their dissolution in 1986.
He launched a solo career in 1985.
