The Kyle and Jackie O Show continued the year with good results.

KIIS 106.5’s flagship breakfast show topped Sydney radio ratings for the 44th consecutive time on Tuesday.

Data from the latest GFK radio survey revealed that Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson were Sydney’s number one FM morning radio presenters.

The radio show achieved a 14.1 per cent audience share and attracted a weekly audience of 696,000 Sydney residents.

The popular breakfast show has also gained momentum in Melbourne, increasing KIIS’ audience by 48,000 to 502,000 listeners.

Duncan Campbell, ARN’s chief content officer, said: ‘Despite 25 years together on air, The Kyle & Jackie O Show is still a brand new show in Melbourne, and we’re encouraged by these early results.

‘In particular, the increase in cume (cumulative audience) demonstrates that the show is attracting new listeners and as that cume converts into loyal listening, we will see engagement increase.

We know it will take a few more surveys before their presence really starts to resonate with Melbourne audiences, but we are excited to continue building on this foundation and are confident that Kyle and Jackie O will continue to capture the hearts of Melbourne listeners just as they have in Sydney.

On April 29, Kyle and Jackie O brought their morning radio show to Melbourne in a massive multi-million dollar expansion deal.

The move led to the cancellation of Jason “Jase” Hawkins and Lauren Phillips’ breakfast show.

Unapologetic Kyle said he didn’t care if his competitors were fired, as it ultimately came down to who could attract more listeners.

“No, I don’t mind. That’s why we went with Melbourne. We thought, ‘We’ve given Jase and Lauren a good opportunity on KIIS FM, they can’t go any higher than fourth in the radio ratings, so we’ll take it,'” he said. news.com.au.

He added that The Kyle and Jackie O Show moved to Melbourne because it was a “struggling market” and his show could help win back listeners.

However, Kyle’s co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson took a different approach, adding that while she didn’t like seeing competitors get fired, it was the unfortunate reality of the business.

“Nobody wants to get fired from their job. I wouldn’t want that to happen to me. It’s a double-edged sword, it really is,” he said.
