Steven Knight has teased that the long-awaited Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, will not be the end of the iconic drama.
In June it was confirmed that the original Peaky Blinders writing and directing team would return alongside Cillian Murphy, 48, for a Netflix film adaptation of the hit series.
And earlier this month, Cillian and Barry Keoghan, 32, were photographed together on the set of the upcoming film as they wrapped up production.
But now that filming has wrapped, the creator of the iconic drama series, 65, has hinted that another series could be coming to fans.
Jane Mulkerrins in Radio Times asked the British screenwriter this week if they still have a release date for the film.
Steven then seemingly confirmed that the movie will be released within a year, saying, “It’s too early for that, but you know, you can estimate it’ll be about a year.”

In June it was confirmed that the original Peaky Blinders writing and directing team would return alongside Cillian Murphy, 48, for a Netflix film adaptation of the hit series.
Jane followed up by asking Steven if there are any more plans for Peaky Blinders beyond the movie.
To which he hinted: “Well, it’s interesting that you ask that question because the movie is about to come out and that won’t be the end.”
Probing further, Jane asked: ‘Oh. So, more TV series? and Steven confessed: ‘It won’t be the end, let me put it that way. I’m not saying anything like that.
In August, it was announced that Barry will appear in the upcoming film, but details about his character have yet to be revealed.
Fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the feature film after six seasons of the BBC show.
The epic continuation of the multi-award-winning gangster saga, set on the lawless streets of 20th century Birmingham, has been written by Steven, who will co-produce alongside Caryn Mandabach, Cillian and Guy Heeley.
The streaming service confirmed the news on X with a photo of the script, while the Oscar-winning actor told Deadline: ‘Looks like Tommy Shelby wasn’t done with me…’

Director Tom shared: “When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know there was something about the alchemy of the cast and writing that seemed explosive.”
“Peaky has always been a story about family, so it’s incredibly exciting to reunite with Steve and Cillian to bring the film to audiences around the world on Netflix.”
Peaky Blinders was released in 2013 and won a huge audience both in Britain and abroad, attracting roles for big screen stars such as Tom Hardy and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The show is loosely based on a real Birmingham gang of the same name that operated from the 1880s to the 1920s and engaged in similar illegal activities.
Peaky Blinders aired six series over nine years and ended with Tommy, who had been tricked into believing he was terminally ill, surviving a murder attempt orchestrated by his own nephew before killing him and moving on to a new life.
The hugely popular BBC crime drama, set in Birmingham during the city’s industrial revolution of the early 20th century, ended its six-series run in 2022.
