Steve Martin sent fans into a frenzy as he poked fun at romance rumors between Martin Short and Meryl Streep on Instagram on Saturday.
The Father of the Bride actor, 79, stars alongside Short, 74, in the hit Hulu series Only Murders In The Building, with Meryl Streep as a guest in the third and fourth seasons.
She reposted a Glamor photo on her home page while posing with Martin and Meryl Streep, 75, but added a crossed-out red circle over her face.
The image appeared to have been taken last year when the trio attended a play together in February 2023.
Social media users were quick to speculate that Steve was apparently referencing relationship rumors between his co-stars that have surfaced.

However, both Martin and Meryl have insisted they are just friends and in August, Streep broke her silence about the speculation after the pair held hands on the red carpet.

Last year in January, it was announced that Meryl would be joining the cast of Only Murders In The Building and appeared in the third and fourth seasons of the Hulu show.
Shortly after he said People on Streep’s casting for the series, “The story with Meryl is that she called me and said, ‘I want to be involved.’
“They already planned that it would have a theatrical experience and that there would be a love interest.”
Martin added: “It was a coincidence, but she just wanted to be on the show.” ‘She didn’t know anything about (the love story).’
John Hoffman, the showrunner of Only Murders In The Building, spoke about Martin and Meryl’s chemistry last year.
