Stereophonics star Kelly Jones recalled the time her neighbor was stunned after finding singing legend Sir Tom Jones in Kelly’s kitchen.
Singer Kelly, 49, has been good friends with fellow Welshman Sir Tom, 83, since 1997 and once invited him over for drinks after a TV appearance.
During his visit, Sir Tom gave an impromptu kitchen rendition of some of his biggest hits for his friends while at Kelly’s flat.
However, the timing led to one of Kelly’s neighbors banging on their door and asking them to turn the volume down on ‘Tom Jones records’, only to be left in complete disbelief when he saw the star standing in the kitchen.
Referring to the late Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable, who died in 2010, Kelly explained on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this week: “He came back to my flat once after doing a Jools Holland show with Stuart. a drink on the house and it was going on quite a bit.

‘And the guy upstairs came down, and we were singing and stuff. And the guy knocked on the door and said, “Look, I’ve got a very early morning appointment. Can you turn the volume down a little bit on the Tom Jones records?”
‘ And Stuart comes to the door and says, “What’s the problem here, mate?” And he’s like, “Look, I’ve got to go to sleep in the morning. Can you just turn down the volume on Tom Jones records?”
‘And we said, ‘We’re not going to play Tom Jones records,’ I said, ‘Tom Jones is in my kitchen singing.’ And he goes, “Yeah, sure.”
I say: “Look, come and take a look.” And he sees Tom in the kitchen and he’s like, “Oh, sure, that’s fine.” He said, “Have a good night.”
So I close the door and Tom says, “That’s the problem, see. When you have a flat, there’s always someone above you who has something to say.”
It comes after Sir Tom Jones made good on his promise to “keep singing Delilah”.

“It stopped the choir from singing, but it didn’t stop the crowd from singing it. And we’ll keep singing it too.’
He is also reported to have told fans, ‘You can’t stop us from singing Delilah. Can you imagine?…they can stop the choir from singing it, but they haven’t stopped the crowd. Keep singing it, and I’ll keep singing it too.’
The 1968 ballad, written by Barry Mason, was removed from the playlists at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium because the lyrics described the murder of a woman by her boyfriend after she was caught with another man.
Tom’s challenge has been endorsed by former Undertones frontman Feargal Sharkey, 64, who says it’s a “classic killer ballad that goes back to the very foundations of folk music.”

“I think if you’re looking into lyrics about a man killing a woman, it’s not a political statement.
“It’s something that happens in life that (a) woman was unfaithful to him and he just loses it.”
