The Gogglebox star, 53, broke down in tears as he shared his fears of being “abandoned” in relationships after his father left his mother when he was young.
After growing up with his mother, brother and three sisters, Stephen tragically lost his brother Paul, who died aged 32 from a heroin overdose.
Speaking openly about his heartbreak, Stephen explained to officers that when his first relationship failed, he felt abandoned.
Delving into her childhood, she began: ‘My father left my mother alone to raise us five children.’

The Gogglebox star revealed his father abandoned him and his siblings when he was young and then his brother Paul tragically died aged 32 from a heroin overdose.
When asked by Paul Carrick Brunson if he felt pressure when his father left, Stephen replied: “Tons.”
He added: ‘And especially at the age of 30, my brother passed away and that meant I was the only boy with three sisters.
“I felt like I was doing my father’s job.”
Stephen stars in the Channel 4 dating show following the breakdown of his six-year marriage to Daniel Lustig, with whom he previously appeared on Gogglebox.
Speaking about the end of the relationship, she explained: ‘I have to come to terms with what happened between me and my husband Daniel and I’m still working through it.
“I had been putting it off for over a year. I had just stopped feeling it. I felt like life was passing me by and I wanted a new adventure.”

And on Tuesday’s episode, the pair sat down for drinks to get to know each other – however, it didn’t get off to a great start as Ben revealed he wasn’t feeling well.
Things didn’t change when Stephen asked Ben what his favourite position to play in football was, to which the TV star replied: “Doggy style?”
After an awkward silence, Stephen added, “You’re a bit conventional, aren’t you, babe? I like it tied back.”
The conversation seemed to improve when Ben talked about coming out at 18 and the difficulties of doing so in a football environment, but Stephen then faked a yawn before declaring that Ben “needed his nappy changed” when he went to the toilet.
