The Irish firefighter accused of raping a woman in Boston has a history of disturbing social media posts, including one in which he said he wanted to visit the “most under-reported rape capital of Europe” and another in which he declared he would “break his wife’s cervix”.
Terrence Crosbie, 37, was arrested Friday morning for the alleged rape of a sleeping 28-year-old woman, just hours after he arrived in Massachusetts with other members of the Dublin Fire Department to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
The married father-of-two’s social media accounts offer a glimpse of behavior that is unbecoming of a public servant or the respected Dublin Fire Brigade.
In 2017, Crosbie wrote about wanting to visit Amsterdam and watch a football match before adding a questionable comment.
“Ajax is a downhill trip,” he wrote on worth the detour.”

He was arrested on Saturday after allegedly trying to flee the country following an interview with police in connection with the attack.
Crosbie was due to return to Dublin on Tuesday, having arrived with his colleagues on Thursday, but booked a flight for 10.10pm on Saturday after his interview with police.
His wife Ciara is understood to have remained in Dublin with their two daughters.
Most recently, on October 10, 2021, he sent a NSFW birthday message for his wife of nine years Ciara.
“Happy birthday baby,” Crosbie wrote on X. “I’ll break your cervix later.”
It is unclear whether the messages violate the Dublin Fire Brigade’s code of conduct.

The Dublin Fire Department announced Tuesday that he had been placed on leave.
They said in a statement: “We cannot comment on the specific circumstances, but we reiterate the high standards we expect of everyone who represents our organization at any event.
“As a result, we are conducting an internal investigation and establishing the facts in collaboration with the relevant authorities and the organizers of the delegation. As this is a criminal investigation, we will not make any further comment at this time.

The alleged victim told police on Friday that she had been sexually assaulted earlier the same day at the Omni Parker House by a member of the Dublin Fire Brigade.
Crosbie was charged with rape and ordered held on $100,000 bail.
The alleged victim told police that Crosbie sexually assaulted her at the historic Omni Parker House after having consensual sex with the co-worker he shared the hotel room with.
Crosbie was allegedly seen on surveillance footage entering the hotel room approximately two hours after the alleged victim and his roommate entered. He then allegedly began sexually assaulting the woman, who told police she told him to stop, but he responded, “This guy is sleeping.” I know you want this.
The alleged victim told police at Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday that she had been sexually assaulted earlier in the day.
Officials said Crosbie was due to return to Dublin on Tuesday, having arrived with his colleagues on Thursday, but booked a flight for 10:10 p.m. on Saturday after his interview with police.
He then boarded an even earlier flight, around 7 p.m., from Logan International Airport.
Crosbie was charged with rape and ordered held on $100,000 bail.
If he posts bail, he is ordered not to leave the state of Massachusetts and his passport has been confiscated.
The firefighter’s social media accounts show a husband and father who appears to be an active member of the Dublin community.
He posted a photo of his passport next to a beer on his now-deleted X account on Thursday, while traveling to the United States with his colleagues.
His wife Ciara is understood to have remained in Dublin with their two daughters.
“As always in these cases, the victim’s willingness to come forward is crucial. This victim deserves enormous credit for doing this in this case,” said Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden.
“I am grateful for the vigilance of the police when they discovered that Mr Crosbie was attempting to leave the country before he could be held accountable for his actions.”
Crosbie is due back in court on April 16.
