Stephen Amell shares his thoughts on the SAG-AFTRA strike.
During an appearance at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, the Arrow The star revealed that she does not support the current actors’ strike.
“I feel like I’m isolated in Hollywood because that’s where I live. I feel like a lot of people in this room aren’t aware of the strike,” he said. “I support my union, I do, and I’m with them, but I don’t support the strike. No.”
He continued: “I think it’s a reductionist negotiation tactic, and I find all of this incredibly frustrating. I think the thinking when it comes to shows, like this show I’m on that premiered last night, I think is shortsighted and I support my union.”

He Heels The actor is one of the first to speak out against the strike, which began on July 14 after SAG-AFTRA’s contract expired and talks with the Film and Television Producers Alliance broke down. The union explained that the key issues at stake, including broadcast compensation and artificial intelligence, are so important to the actors that they felt a work stoppage was necessary to get the best deal.
When the strike was called, SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher explained that the union was disappointed that things had reached this point with the AMPTP.
“We are the victims here,” he said in a powerful speech at the time. “We are being victimized by a very greedy entity. I’m amazed at the way people we’ve been in business with are treating us. I can’t believe, frankly, how far along we are on so many things. How they claim poverty, that they are losing money left and right while giving millions to CEOs. It’s disgusting, shame on them.”
