ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith says Joe Biden is “long overdue for dropping out of the presidential race,” believing people should “get behind Kamala Harris.”
Smith has never been shy about talking politics and gave his take on the biggest news of the day on Sunday in a New York City park. by Newsday.
“If you bring in someone other than her, you really upset the established order and it’s too difficult to overcome. But by keeping her, the synergy is there,” Smith said.
“With all due respect, I think he’s done a good job, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with us saying, ‘You’ve done a good job. Thank you for your years of service, it’s time for someone else to take over,'” Smith continued.
Biden himself has endorsed Vice President Harris to lead the Democratic ticket for this year’s presidential election.

Biden, now 81, has been president since defeating Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
Biden surprised many by dropping out of the presidential race on Sunday, with many believing the move would come, if it comes at all, closer to the Democratic National Convention next month.
Biden’s performance at the June 27 debate sparked an avalanche of people calling for the 81-year-old to step down from the White House because of his age.
Democrats now have about a month to formally nominate a new presidential and vice presidential candidate.
Smith previously stated that Biden’s age was “not an issue” and that Harris “doesn’t do much” for Biden’s campaign.
Biden was locked in a rematch with Donald Trump, whom he defeated in the 2020 presidential election to win the White House.
It’s unclear how Democrats will name another nominee, as Biden has cleared the way for Harris to take over and for the vice president to nominate someone to take her place.
