Stephen A. Smith is concerned about the implications of an OnlyFans model earning more than many of the NBA’s most popular players.
Sophie Rain recently revealed her staggering earnings on the site, where fans pay to view images and videos from content creators.
The 20-year-old posted screenshots suggesting she had earned $43.4 million in the past 12 months, including more than $4 million from one fan.
“Guess I might be the horniest man in America, huh?” the ESPN analyst said in ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show‘.
“To put total earnings into perspective, Sophie Rain made more money from OnlyFans than many of the NBA’s biggest stars…Anthony Davis, Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Edwards.”
Smith then noted that in 2023, Onlyfans content creators earned a collective total of $6.6 billion.
Stephen A. Smith has weighed in on the news that an OnlyFans model earns more than many of the NBA’s most popular players.
Onlyfans creator Sophie Rain recently shared that she had earned over $43 million last year.
Rain’s earnings eclipsed those of the likes of Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards.
“(That) exceeds the total salaries earned by the entire National Basketball Association, which was $4.9 billion,” he said.
‘Mrs Raine says she is a devout Christian and a virgin… and despite that, the man gave her almost five million dollars. That’s a new meaning for him.
‘How else can you describe it? Why do you pay a girl on Onlyfans almost 5 million dollars?
Smith claims he has never been on Onlyfans and had never heard of Rain before reading about his earnings.
“And this is what’s blowing me away,” he said.
‘The scary thing about this is that it will encourage people desperate to make quick money to do whatever they think will make money… who knows what that will create?’
He added: ‘Do you think there won’t be people who say, “Well, what if I was willing to do something physical, what if I was willing to do porn?”
Luka Doncic’s (right) salary also doesn’t come close to Rain’s astronomical 2024 earnings
The Onlyfans creator, 20, has enjoyed a lucrative rise to fame in recent months.
While OnlyFans has proven to be a deal breaker, athletes have sometimes used the platform to add money to their bank accounts.
Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman uses the platform and went viral over the summer (and gained 20,000 followers) when she twerked after performing a vault at the Paris Games.
“There is always a (stigma) around this and I am very aware of that,” he told Mail Sport. “But I have a lot of faith in the company and its direction.”
Newman would win a bronze medal in Paris. Several other Olympic athletes, including British diver Jack Laugher, have also used the platform.
