American basketball star Steph Curry has expressed his support for Kamala Harris ahead of her expected presidential battle with Donald Trump this autumn.

Harris is set to replace Joe Biden in the race for the White House after the current president announced on Sunday that he will not seek re-election and that his current vice president should be the next Democratic leader.

If this turns out to be the case, he will face Trump before the all-important November elections.

And Curry, speaking ahead of Team USA’s first Olympic game against Serbia this weekend, made clear which side of the political spectrum he stands on after endorsing Harris as the next president.

“We’re living in interesting times in our country,” the Golden State Warriors guard said. “Hopefully, with her on the roster, we’ll win the election. It’s a big deal, to say the least.”

Harris, who was born in Oakland, is a lifelong Warriors fan and has previously described the team as a “constant source of joy and pride.”

Curry continued about the former U.S. senator: ‘She represents the Bay Area and is a huge support to us, and we’re going to give that energy back to her.

‘For her, in this moment that is coming, the important thing is positive energy and optimism, knowing how divided our country is at the moment.

“I’m excited for the journey ahead.”

Curry previously aligned himself with Democrats during the 2020 presidential election.

In a video with his wife Ayesha, the NBA sensation revealed they would vote for Biden over Republican front-runner Trump this year.

“We want to make sure our children live in a safe, happy, healthy and fair nation, and that’s why this election matters,” Ayesha said as she began the video.

“We’re voting for Joe Biden,” Steph said.

Curry has also had some clashes with Trump in the past, turning down the opportunity to visit the White House during his previous term as president in 2017.

Trump responded by rescinding his invitation to Golden State’s NBA championship-winning team on Twitter (now X).
