Extraordinary footage of a man casually carrying a metre-long shark by the tail before throwing it into the tray of his SUV has divided Australian viewers.
Video of the incident shared by TikToker Nasimzazai, who indicated it had been filmed on Thursday from a viewing point overlooking the Maroochy River at a Maroochydore boat ramp on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The footage showed a barefoot man, wearing shorts and a T-shirt, wandering down the street carrying what appeared to be a bull shark by the tail to his parked van.
He attempted to lift the shark onto the tray of the ute, which hit the tailgate and fell heavily to the ground.

The man picked up the shark and threw it into the back of his vehicle.
In the footage, onlookers are seen watching in fascination as others filmed the incident.
A female spectator can be heard laughing.
“Catch the shark and dinners are prepared for the whole week,” the video is titled.
It is still unclear if the shark was alive and how the man caught it.
There appeared to be a fishing rod also in the back of the vehicle.
The video was flooded with more than 100 comments on TikTok.
One onlooker joked that the man just grabbed him.
“Yes, you just put your hand in the water and pull one out,” they commented.
Other viewers were shocked at how the man roughly handled the shark.
“People don’t understand that we need sharks, this is cruel,” one wrote.
Another added: “Nice softened on the tailgate.”
A third wrote: ‘Baby shark. It has to be illegal.
However, others disagreed that it was a baby and thought it was probably legal.
“Just one bull shark, don’t worry, there are plenty of them out there,” one commenter wrote.
“I don’t know why you’d keep it even though they’re eating shit.”
The man’s first attempt to lift it into the rear tray of his SUV was unsuccessful, but he succeeded the second time.
Bull sharks are allowed to be caught in Queensland if they are less than 150cm in length.
Some viewers wondered why the fish was not bled, which produces tastier fillets.
“People are so stupid I guarantee they won’t eat anything because they didn’t bleed it and it will end up in the trash. I hate humans,” wrote one disgusted TikToker.
Another added: “Eat well, bleeding is a good idea but you can freeze the fillets and that should fix the ammonia.”
Sharks are known to convert toxic ammonia into useful body fluids.
