Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Andy Dalton was in a car accident with his wife, three children and the family dog in the car this week, his team announced Tuesday.
The Panthers also stated that no members of the Dalton family were transported to the hospital as a result of the accident.
However, Dalton himself is being examined by team doctors, a Panthers spokesperson added.
Dalton married his wife Jordan in 2011 and the couple has two sons, Nash and Noah, as well as a daughter, Finley. The name and breed of the family dog are unknown.
Dalton took over as the Panthers’ starter in Week 3 replacing Bryce Young and has not relinquished the job despite the team’s one-win record.

Dalton, who turns 37 next week, has been in Carolina since last season after a long career with the Cincinnati Bengals that ended in 2019.
The Panthers have lost six games this season, all by 10 points or more, including Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders by a score of 40-7.
Dalton is nearing the end of his NFL career after being selected in the 2011 draft.
