WhatsNew2Day Australia has contacted CRS Insolvency Services and Start Right Homes.

More than 2,000 construction companies across Australia collapsed in the 2022-23 financial year amid labor shortages and rising production costs.

In March, a construction company part of a major Australian construction giant, Cavalier Homes, collapsed with debt of at least $680,000.

Victoria-based builder Station 293 Pty Ltd was trading under construction firm Cavalier Homes Geelong and Nathan Downing Builders.

A spokesperson for Cavalier Homes told WhatsNew2Day Australia the company had been struggling for some time due to rising costs.

“Due to the recent widespread cost escalation in the construction industry, Nathan’s business has regrettably been forced into voluntary liquidation,” the spokesperson said.

“Despite our efforts to assist Nathans, two affected customers and business partners, we deeply empathize with all affected parties.”

More than 40 creditors have since contacted liquidator Clifford Sanderson.

The collapse of Station 293 Pty Ltd came after construction company Main Facilities Pty Ltd went into administration the previous week.

The company’s workers were informed via Zoom that they had all been laid off, after the business collapsed owing $7 million to creditors.

A massive 2,349 construction companies went bankrupt in Australia over the past year, as the industry continues to struggle during a period of high inflation.
