Christmas is still seven weeks away, but Starbucks gets into the holiday mood well in advance by revealing the designs for the Christmas cup for 2019.
This year, the coffee chain will offer four different festive cup options, as well as a reusable design for those who want to be more environmentally aware about their drink purchases.
The arrival of the cups – which will be available in stores from November 7 – also marks the return of the Starbucks holiday drink menu, which contains the same festive drinks as last year: peppermint mocha, roasted white chocolate, caramel brulee latte, chestnut praline latte and Eggnog Latte.
Ho ho vacation time! Starbucks has unveiled four festive cup designs for 2019
Funky: the new designs have a more modern and graphic version of the traditional Christmas colors, and a few contain funky 3D style formulas
This year's four Christmas cup designs – Polka Dots, Merry Dance, Merry Stripes and Candy Cane Stripe – offer a modern, graphic version of traditional Christmas themes and adhere to a classic color palette of red, white and green.
"This year there are four new cup designs that evoke mini moments of joy for our customers and partners – it's fun, festive and unique Starbucks," the brand said in a statement.
& # 39; Polka Dots [is] the traditional Starbucks red cup dotted with green, with a playful Siren logo here and there. Merry Dance [is] a lively combination of red and green letters that chase a snow-white cup with a cheerful expression.
& # 39; From a distance, the Merry Stripes cup looks like it has been wrapped in green vintage wrapping paper. But up close the small type offers a happy feeling.
& # 39; The colors of the holiday all come together with the Candy Cane Stripes design while the Starbucks word mark falls like snow against red and white stripes of candy. & # 39;
There is also a reusable option – a red cup with the words & # 39; Merry Coffee & # 39; written in green and white around the middle. This cup is distributed free of charge to customers who purchase a holiday drink on November 7, and can then be used to get a 50-cent discount on each grande holiday drink after 2 p.m. until 7 January.
The reusable cups flew off the shelves last year and were actually sold out at multiple locations – and it seems that many customers are just as excited to get hold of this year's design.
& # 39; OMG !! Soooo excited! & # 39; one said about the reusable cup release on Twitter, and the other added: & # 39; I'll be early and early to buy one! & # 39;
Environmentally aware: Starbucks is also returning its reusable offer this year, which customers can grab for free when buying a holiday drink on November 7
Cheers! The arrival of the cups also heralds the return of holiday drinks – roasted white chocolate, caramel brulee latte, peppermint mocha, chestnut praline latte and eggnog latte
Festive: last year's cup designs were slightly more traditional
Unlike last year's cup designs, which were incredibly traditional and include popular Christmas images such as holly berries and stars, this year's deals see the branding of Starbucks as the focus of the cups.
The coffee chain Christmas cups have been the subject of serious research – and in some cases severe criticism – during the last five years, with Donald Trump even proposing a Starbucks boycott in 2015 after debuting a minimalist red design that many struck because of lack of festive accents.
In 2016, the chain fought to reclaim its crown as the festive coffee king, and went big on its holiday offer, releasing thirteen bright red cup designs that all included fun Christmassy designs made by cunning customers.
The release of the holiday cups was again contaminated by controversy in 2017, with Starbucks giving customers the chance to color their own cups – a concept that was outraged by some Grinches.
Others disputed the fact that the two hands appeared to be in front of two women's cups.
According to CNBC, the release of the holiday cups Starbucks & # 39; tax revenue in the first quarter & # 39; make or break & # 39 ;, so no doubt the chain will hope that this year's designs go well with customers.
Starbucks also brings back its festive food menu, which includes: Holiday Turkey and Stuffing Panini, Cranberry Bliss Bar, Sugar Plum Danish, Snowman Cookie, Gingerbread Loaf, Peppermint Brownie Cake Pop and Snowman Cake Pop.
