Alabama star basketball talent Caleb White dies at 17 after collapsing during on-court workout at Pinson Valley High School

Caleb White, a high school basketball star from Alabama, has died after reportedly collapsing during a workout at school.
The No. 2 player in Alabama was pronounced dead at a local hospital Thursday, according to multiple reports.
White was a three-star prospect, averaging 20.9 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game.
The cause of death is unknown at this time, however al.com informs that an autopsy will be carried out on Friday to determine it.
White was said to have collapsed during a workout with his team at Pinson Valley High School on Thursday before being taken to St. Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

His grandfather, George Varnadoe Jr., posted a moving tribute on Facebook following the news.
‘Caleb was an honor student, very respectful, high intellect, excellent role model, phenomenal basketball player, ranked 25th best point guard in his class in the nation and 2nd in the state of Alabama. RIP Caleb. I love you man.’
The school’s principal, Michael Turner, issued a statement shared with parents after the tragedy.
“Unfortunately, I have very sad news to report tonight,” Turner wrote. ‘One of our seniors suffered a medical emergency at school today. Lifesaving efforts were immediately launched and first responders were called.
‘Unfortunately, the student was pronounced dead after being transported to hospital. Out of respect for the family, we will not release the student’s name at this time,’ he said.
‘We will have more to say in the near future. Please note that counseling resources will be available to anyone who needs them in the coming days. Please keep the student’s family and our school in your prayers.’
