Stan Original Series The Tourist Wins Big at Monte Carlo TV Festival

Stan Original Series The tourist walked away with three awards at the Monte Carlo TV Festival.

The hit thriller starring Jamie Dornan won Best Series and Best Creation at the prestigious international event in Monaco, also taking home the audience award.

Other shows competing for the top prizes included the Paramount+ Godfather series The Offer and the Amazon Prime thriller The Terminal List, starring Chris Pratt.

streaming giant Stan have renewed the show for a second season.

Jamie’s father Jim tragically died while stuck in isolation in Adelaide prior to the filming of the first season of The Tourist.

Last month he said he felt helpless and left a “wreck” at the time.

“Getting that news no matter where you are geographically is shit, you know,” Jamie told me News Corp

“I was stuck there, denied seeing my sisters, denied seeing my stepmother—not ideal, but you’re a wreck wherever you go if something like this happens to you.”

Despite being in immeasurable pain, Jamie continued filming, saying the work was a good distraction from his grief.

“There could be permanent damage, who knows, but at the time it felt like a good distraction,” he said.

Jim died in March at the age of 73 after contracting the coronavirus.

A renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist, in addition to his medical career, he also guest-starred in his son Jamie’s gripping BBC One series The Fall, where he played police officer John Porter in a 2016 episode.
