ABC Q+A host Stan Grant has come under fire for repeatedly speaking out about a respected lawyer who appeared on his show.

Geoffrey Robertson, a world-renowned Australian human rights lawyer, appeared at Monday night’s question and answer session along with other guests to discuss topics ranging from the rise of neo-Nazis in Melbourne to Australia’s gambling laws.

However, viewers were quick to notice how Mr. Grant seemed to interrupt and interrupt Mr. Robertson on several occasions.

At one point, he even seemed to point a finger at the lawyer while speaking over him.

One angry observer said: ‘When I saw Geoffrey Robertson was in #qanda I decided to watch. But then he realized that he was not allowed to finish his answers. He kept getting cut. So I turned it off.

There seemed to be several interruptions throughout the episode.

The most obvious example was when the lawyer, best known to Australians through his television shows Hypotheticals, was answering a question about the new Australian submarine deal.

He acknowledged Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s pride in securing the deal, but also noted that AUKUS was the brainchild of former Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Appearing to set a punchline, he said: “It was a proud moment for Albo to be there with Great Britain and the United States, taking this stand against authoritarianism.”

“But then you read that it was actually the brainchild of Scott Morrison and given what we know about Scott Morrison’s brain…”

The rest of his joke was interrupted by Mr. Grant, who interrupted to point out how Anthony Albanese supported the AUKUS plan.

He then held up his finger, speaking over the attorney as they both tried to make their points clear.

On another occasion, Robertson spoke about former Prime Minister Paul Keating’s comments on the AUKUS deal.

However, her final point on the subject was drowned out by Mr. Grant, who seemed to be trying to steer the conversation in a different direction.

Reacting to the interruption, viewers criticized Mr. Grant.

One said: ‘This question and answer session announces that everyone has a voice. Stan Grant just takes over and talks.

‘He just cut off the wonderful Geoffrey Robertson mid-sentence… Seriously, there’s NO point in looking at him!

“Once a decent show, now a Stan Grant shit show.”

Another raged: ‘Oh FFS, when is Stan Grant going to realize we don’t watch #QandA to hear him talking over every damn guest ESPECIALLY Geoffrey Robertson?’

And a third said: ‘Stan Grant is ignorant and a terrible host! When Geoffrey Robertson speaks, people stop and listen intently. They know Robertson makes sense. Stan has to go! Please ABC.
