A much-loved Irish chicken sandwich has taken social media by storm – and it might just be the perfect cure for your St Patrick’s Day hangover.

The Irish chicken fillet roll is a long-established tradition on the island of Ireland, although debate rages over the best place to buy the delicacy – and how to get it made.

It consists of three main components: chicken, spices and a selection of bread.

Exactly how the sandwich is ordered is up to your individual taste, but from Dublin to London, the snack is a fast-growing favorite – just in time for your St Patrick’s Day hangover.

Festivities kick off on Sunday, with lively parades and festivals set to take place across the island of Ireland and streets to be bathed in emerald green.

Of course, no St Patrick’s Day celebration would be complete without pints, pub grub and hearty grub, with establishments across the country offering bottomless Guinness.

Those looking to soak up the alcohol may find the cure on TikTok, where the Irish filet roll has gone somewhat viral – with the sandwich now available in delis across the UK.

A TikTok user who shares travel tips with her 58,000 followers has tried to simplify the process for those just coming across the roll, listing the perfect order for your first filet roll.

Aine, who goes by Travels with Aine, said the ideal order for newcomers should include a soft white roll, coleslaw instead of mayonnaise and a spicy chicken fillet.

She also said to request that the sandwich be cut in half.

“I come home once a year and my telltale sign of inflation is the prices of chicken fillet rolls,” Aine said on TikTok.

A heated debate was sparked in the comments about the best way to make the sandwich

But those in the comments didn’t all agree with her rendition of the snack.

One person said: ‘The only thing right about this order is the spicy chicken.’

Another added: ‘Chicken fillet wrap, taco sauce, cheese and red onion. Not cut!’

One viewer even suggested that Aine’s proposal must be a ‘joke’.

‘Wrong, Mayo cheese spicy chicken elite, feeling cheeky? Lettuce, feeling extra cheeky, get it toasted without lettuce,’ said another woman.

Taking part in the sandwich debate, one man said his perfect order is ‘butter and mayo, white roll, cheese, red onion, lettuce cut in half and then any chips you prefer and a Diet Coke or Lucozade Original.’
