A man has been arrested after a young woman was allegedly stabbed to death in western Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Edmondson Avenue in St Marys at around 6.45am Wednesday following reports of a stabbing.
The woman was found suffering from stab wounds to the chest and tragically died at the scene, despite desperate attempts by paramedics to resuscitate her.
She has not been formally identified but is thought to be in her thirties.
Police have launched an urgent investigation into a fatal stabbing in St Marys
A 35-year-old man was later arrested at Campbelltown Police Station, 43km south-west of Sydney.
The man is currently being questioned by officers. No charges have been filed at this early stage.
Investigations are continuing.
