St. Louis shopping center shuts down as police respond to reports of ‘active gunman’

Police in St. Louis have been called to a mall because of reports of an active gunman.

Steve Stein, assistant director of security at the West County mall, told DailyMail.com that gunshots rang out around 7:45 PM.

He said the mall would close at 8pm and there were ‘some people’ inside.

“Everyone is stuck and police are everywhere,” he told DailyMail.com

The police are trying to secure the building. There are a number of people in detention and we just wait for everything. ‘

It was unclear if there were any casualties or if the scene was still active.

Stein said he thought the shooter had left the scene, but he could not confirm this.
