Major police operation at a busy hospital in Sydney: Reports of a ‘threat’
A police operation at a busy hospital in south-east Sydney closed roads and left some people ordered to stay in the area on Friday.
Officers were called to a car park at Gray and Belgrave streets, at St George’s Hospital in Kogarah, around 9:30 am after reports of a threat.
Roads surrounding the area were closed while police searched the area, but no suspicious items were found, a NSW Police spokesman said.
A police operation has unfolded at St George’s Hospital in south-east Sydney.
The operation was still active shortly after 1:00 p.m., but the area was declared safe and the roads reopened shortly after 2:00 p.m.
A spokesman for St George’s Hospital said the facility remained open during the chaos and was operating “as usual”.
