House of horrors is being picked up just a week after it’s been put up for rent – despite its very dark history

A ‘house of horrors’ where a woman slaughtered her own mother has been put up for rent a week after it went on the market.

Jessica Camilleri killed her mother Rita at the St Clair house, in western Sydney, which they shared in 2019, beheading her in the kitchen and stabbing her 100 times.

The neat three-bedroom blonde brick home sold for $680,000 in June 2020 with marketing materials describing it as “truly fabulous.”

The house was rented out soon after with a listing that emphasized renovations, “spacious” bedrooms, and “spacious” living space.

It also hinted at past troubles with a warning that the real estate agent would reveal a “material fact” about the home upon viewing.

In the first week of May 2023, the property was back on the rental market, this time at $530 per week.

The listing described it as a “great home priced to rent.”

“Houses that are truly this fabulous are a rare find,” it continued.

That rent was slightly above the average rent for a three-bedroom house in St Clair, of $520.

The property was bought up in less than a week as tenants are desperate for a home, while Sydney has a low vacancy rate of just 1.4 percent.

Despite the turbulent past, a deposit was paid on the property at the first open house.

Camilleri, 29, was sentenced to 21 years in prison for beheading her mother.

She used at least six knives to kill her mother, 57, with four of the knives broken in the attack.

She said she suffered from mental illnesses and conditions including autism, bipolar disorder and anxiety.

The NSW Supreme Court heard from an expert, Professor David Greenberg, that Camilleri has mild intellectual disability and an autism spectrum disorder, as well as an anger disorder.

It can cause her to lose control and “explode like a bomb” if provoked

When selling or renting a home in NSW where a crime has been committed, estate agents are required by law to be forthright with potential tenants.

“Any information that could influence a decision to buy, sell, rent or affect the market value of a property must be disclosed to prospective buyers,” said the Real Estate Institute of NSW.
