Spotify mixes is a new family of personalized playlists, filled with songs you already love and then supplemented with additional songs that Spotify thinks you’ll love, based on your favorite artists, genres, or decades of music. The new mixes are rolling out worldwide starting today for both free and premium Spotify subscribers.
The music streaming service already offers a similar feature in the form of daily mixes, which appear in the same “Made for You” section. The problem with Daily Mixes, however, is that it can be a bit difficult to determine each playlist’s unifying theme based on their vague names like ‘Daily Mix 1’ and ‘Daily Mix 2’. Sometimes you can figure it out from the numbers provided, but sometimes it can be more mysterious.
The names of the new Spotify mixes, on the other hand, are much clearer. A marketing image from Spotify shows playlists with names like ‘Pop Mix’, ‘2000s Mix’ and ‘Drake Mix’. Hopefully, it makes it easy to know what kind of music you find in each playlist without having to look at the track list.
According to Spotify, each Mix category will have multiple playlists, and these will be updated “regularly” to keep your listening experience from getting stale. Once they are available, you should be able to find them in “Search” in the “Made For You” hub.
