Spotify finally gets support for Siri with iOS 13

Spotify finally gets the opportunity to play songs, albums and playlists via Siri. The latest beta versions of Spotify include this support, and The edge has been able to test playing songs via Siri for the latest iOS 13.1 update. It is part of new capabilities that Apple has introduced with iOS 13, and it means that music apps such as Spotify are now on par with Apple Music for requests via Siri.

Although this new feature allows you to request Spotify numbers with Siri on an iPhone, it does not currently work on an Apple Watch because Apple & # 39; s wearable does not have a special Spotify app. Instead, it's just a controller for playing songs on other devices with Spotify. Siri simply responds with "I'm sorry, I can't do that on your Apple Watch" when you try. We have not been able to test whether the HomePod now works with Spotify as a result, but it is unlikely.

However, the integration of Spotify and Siri works well on Apple's AirPods, so you can say "Hey Siri" and ask for albums, playlists or songs to play on the Spotify service. One thing that does not work well is trying to play podcasts with Siri, because Spotify tries to search for music instead of special podcasts.

Spotify is currently testing this new functionality and is likely to debut in the main app in the coming weeks. We watched Spotify on the Apple Watch in beta early last year and the feature was introduced less than two weeks later.
