A woman has gone viral for swearing off Spirit Airlines after catching an employee putting tape on the wing of her plane before taking off.
TikTok user @myhoneysmacks, who is from Alabama, filmed the maintenance repair from her window seat while the plane was parked at Nashville International Airport.
“This is exactly why I don’t fly Spirit. I don’t care if it’s airplane tape or nothing,” she said at the start of the 37 seconds video.
Speed tape, which can sometimes be mistaken for duct tape, is an aluminum-based tape designed for temporary and minor aircraft repairs.

“The fact that you even have to tape the plane together, and then you do it while there are people in the flight like we can’t see you? That’s exactly why I’m not flying Spirit,” she said

The material can withstand wind speeds of up to 600 mph and extreme environmental changes if applied correctly, an aviation safety consultant told the Washington Post last year.
While speedtape is safe to use for certain repairs, the content creator wasn’t too happy to see it used in real time.

“Now Southwest I can do. But ghost? No sir,’ she continued. “That tape is going to lose its stickiness.
“Do you fly around the world and have tape to hold it together? Honey, no. Don’t even worry about it. I’m not booking with you.’
“I’m only flying southwest right now,” she added in the caption.
The video has received 1.6 million views and more than 10,000 comments since it was posted two days ago.
A lot of people got a kick out of her saying that’s why she won’t be flying Spirit Airlines – while she was on a Spirit Airlines flight.

“That’s why I’m not flying Spirit”… while recording from the cabin,” one person replied.
“So what are you doing on board???” asked another.
“How did you go about saying “this is why I’m not flying a ghost” while on the plane?” someone else joined in.
“I’m talking about EVER AGAIN!” she hit back.
There were also plenty of TikTok users who couldn’t resist mocking the tape repair despite it being a common airline practice.
“He knocked it so it’s okay,” one commenter joked, while another added, “Fly with Spirit and become a ghost.”
Others could see where she came from and admitted they would also panic if they witnessed the repair.
