Spencer Matthews, 35, shared a stunning before and after photo on Instagram on Sunday after giving up alcohol and is now attempting a new world record.
Spencer, who is currently attempting to break a new world record and run 30 marathons in 30 days in the Jordan desert, took advantage of the post to explain what changed over the years to achieve his drastic transformation.
‘Looking at the photo on the left, I barely remember that person. Without discipline, lazy, lost. Without coherence or plan. My relationship with alcohol was starting to affect other people too.
‘The photo on the right was taken a few days ago while I’m preparing to run 30 marathons in 30 consecutive days in the Jordan desert to raise money for @globals_make_some_noise.
‘Currently, training involves running about 100 kilometers a week, lifting weights 3 times a week and doing regular physiotherapy. (I am burning approximately 4500 calories per day)
‘What has changed? My addiction, mindset and work ethic.
‘Over the last few years I have made a conscious effort to train constantly and focus on my health and wellbeing. This has allowed me to push my limits, test my abilities, and live a more fulfilling life.
‘If you take anything away from this post, let it be that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. If you want something, make sacrifices, say no to things, and let go of bad habits that hold you back.
‘On the left I would have struggled to run a mile and now, just a few years later, I hope to become a world record ultra runner this summer. (That, as a thought back then, would have been completely unfathomable)
‘If you would like to donate to my challenge, you can do so through the link in my bio. All funds go to Globals Make Some Noise who work with a variety of small charities that are very close to my heart. They focus on improving the lives of young people and families who need it most in the UK. None of your donations go unnoticed and all are greatly appreciated.’

However, Spencer explained that while Vogue was “drinking heavily every few days and drinking to get drunk,” he continued “and it was every day.”
She won’t mind if I tell her she’s a compulsive drinker. In fact, she hates alcohol, she can’t stand being hungover. She doesn’t like the taste of alcohol, but she drinks to get drunk. Back then she drank to get drunk every few days. Now it’s like once a month,’ Spencer explained.
‘On days off, I drank and she didn’t. And then she would get back on the horse. And then when she stopped doing it, I went ahead and it was every day, and she would draw attention to it.’
Around this time, Vogue became pregnant with her eldest son, Theodore. ‘METER“Her alcohol consumption was accentuated by the fact that she didn’t drink,” Spencer said.
“There was a general level of disappointment in her about me. Which seemed like shit to me, because I always wanted people close to me to be proud of me,” she added.
After The Jump, Spencer struggled to find more work, while his wife’s career flourished. ‘I was starting to feel like a real loser. I would do great things and travel while I was pregnant, get these TV jobs and host these documentaries. And I’d be home.’
