Fast food giant In-N-Out is moving forward with its expansion into the rest of the United States with a proposed new restaurant in Washington.

Their famous animal-style burgers and fries are most commonly associated with California’s golden beaches.

But fast food giant In-N-Out is pressing ahead with its expansion into the rest of the United States with a proposed new restaurant in Washington.

If approved, the location will be the first In-N-Out in the Evergreen State, the ninth region the burger chain has ventured into.

A spokesperson for the restaurant told DailyMail.com that the new store, in the town of Ridgefield, was “at a very early stage in the development process.”

It is awaiting a permit from the City and would still take eight to nine months to build once construction begins.

The company’s owner, Lynsi Snyder, said in 2018 in an interview with Forbes that she believed putting restaurants in every state would take away “some of its shine.”

It comes amid a rapid change of direction for In-N-Out, which has increasingly strayed from its California roots.

Founded in 1948, In-N-Out is known for its nostalgic decor, fresh burgers, and loyal following. It has a huge following of celebrity fans, and Meghan Markle was even photographed picking up an order from the restaurant in September.

For decades, it only had restaurants in California because of its commitment to using only fresh burgers. It means all locations must be within a 300-mile radius of an In-N-Out distribution center.

Its first store outside the Golden State was in Las Vegas, Nevada, which it opened in 1992.

In 2000, the chain opened a restaurant in Arizona before expanding to Utah in 2008.

Today, there are 275 locations in California, 43 in Texas, and 34 in Arizona. Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Texas are home to at least one.

Last month, it made headlines after announcing plans to open several locations in Tennessee by 2026. Another is being planned in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The move would be the company’s most eastward expansion yet.

Owner Lynsi Snyder said in a 2018 interview that she believed putting restaurants in every state would take away “some of its shine.”

‘I don’t see us spread throughout the United States. I don’t see us in every state. Take Texas as an example: draw a line and stay to the left. That’s in my lifetime,” Snyder told Forbes.

When In-N-Out first moves to a new state, it usually attracts great fanfare.

For example, when his Idaho restaurant opened in December, there were eight-hour lines for fans waiting to eat his burgers.

Some customers claimed they had even slept in their cars in 30-degree weather to be the first in line.

Last month, a survey of California’s best fast-food establishments saw In-N-Out fall behind ice cream parlor Baskin Robbins.

Based on strong Christian beliefs, the company is known to print Bible verses on some of its packaging.

It was originally founded by Harry and Esther Snyder and is now run by their granddaughter Lynsi Snyder.

Bible quotes include Mark 3:16 on the bottom of the soda glasses, while the milkshakes have Proverbs 3:5 printed on them.

If you order a hamburger or a cheeseburger, you will get one verse, Revelation 3:20, but if you order a Double-Double, a double burger, you will get another, Nahum 1:7.

The practice was started by Lynsi’s uncle, Rich Snyder, before his death in 1993.

According to Forbes, Lynsi has a net worth of $4.2 billion and became a billionaire for the first time in 2017.

Mike Abbate, vice president of store development at In-N-Out, told DailyMail.com:

‘We recently submitted a development application to the City of Ridgefield for a site.

‘However, it is still very early in the development process, so we are hopeful for a positive outcome, as we work with the City in seeking our permits and approvals.

“It would be premature to comment on the timeline for the opening date or even when we will get our development application approved.”
