Space X’s billionaire-funded Polaris Dawn mission will make history when an all-civilian crew embarks on the world’s first private spacewalk.

Shortly before 10.00am BST, the crew will open the hatch of their Dragon spacecraft and enter the deadly vacuum of space.

Billionaire Jared Issacman and SpaceX employee Sarah Gillis will take turns exiting the vehicle, 435 miles (700 kilometers) above Earth.

The first privately funded spacewalk will begin shortly before 11am UK time.

The start was scheduled for 7am, but was delayed without any reason given for the delay.
