Olivia Flowers is engaged to Alex Williams after just over a year of dating, and said “yes” following a “surprise” proposal in New York last month in September.
The Southern Charm star, 32, who confirmed she was fired ahead of the Bravo show’s 10th season, began dating Williams last year in May after first crossing paths at a wedding in Texas.
According PeopleAlex popped the big question late last month, on September 25, in the Meadow Terrace Suite at the JW Marriott Essex House, and also had the help of Olivia’s parents.
Planning for the proposal began early last month, shortly before the television personality headed to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week.
Williams, who resides in Dallas with Olivia, then secretly flew to South Carolina to get permission from his mother and father to propose.

Alex told People: “Olivia has an amazing group of friends, from elementary school to college, and she’s very close with her parents, so I knew involving them in some way would mean a lot to her.”
“I wanted her to feel all the love and excitement in the world for the surprise of her loved ones.”
He explained that “her mother Robin had the idea to propose to her while the four of us would be together in New York, for the Lyme Project Gala that Olivia was speaking at.”
However, plans had to be changed at the last minute because a United Nations meeting was taking place at the hotel when Williams wanted to propose.
Alex said the hotel staff as well as “our friends and family were very helpful and moved well as the plan evolved.”
He told Olivia: “We had a work event to go to at one point and then I changed it to a lunch, then I got their brand manager involved and made him think it was a photo shoot for the hotel.”
Even though plans became “a little hectic,” he explained that “Olivia was incredibly busy with her Lyme Project speech, so she didn’t understand anything at all.”
On the afternoon of September 25, both Alex and Flowers headed to a hotel room where a photographer was waiting to film content for social media.

Olivia told People about the big day: “He’s my most over-the-top guy when it comes to helping me with content, so this didn’t seem strange to me, just like a sweet gesture…”
“It actually involved my social media manager, so I thought it was a brand deal, so I was in work mode.”
As he was setting up the best shots with his phone, he suddenly remembered Alex, “grabbing a box from his sports coat and kneeling down…then dropping my phone.”
“Alex said, “Olivia Barbara Ellen Flowers. You are the girl of my dreams. You became the love of my life. And I would like to ask you if you would marry me?”
Flowers humorously told the outlet, “Looking back now, it worries me how many things I didn’t realize, but it was a good surprise.” Or several surprises, I should say.
Her friends and family were also at the hotel and soon “piled” into the room to help celebrate the moment after the TV personality said “yes.”
Afterwards, the celebrations continued with a dinner at Trattoria Dell’Arte in the heart of New York.
And upon returning to Dallas, the couple enjoyed another celebratory meal at the Ritz Hotel in Las Colinas, which their parents also joined.

Olivia first met Alex when she accompanied her father to a wedding in Texas last year.
However, when her father arrived late, Williams, who had been an usher, offered to walk the reality star down the aisle.
In early May this year, the blonde beauty marked her one-year anniversary and uploaded a post to Instagram.
In addition to sharing some photos of the couple together, she wrote in the caption: “After arriving late to a wedding (and walking up the church stairs) I was met by a handsome usher to take me to my seat.”

Flowers previously dated her Southern Charm co-star Austen Kroll, and the two were first linked in 2021.
Their relationship developed during season 8, but the stars had broken up before the reunion special.
In July of this year, Olivia confirmed that she will not be returning for the tenth season of Southern Charm.

During an appearance in Scheananigans Podcast by Scheana ShayFlowers said: ‘I’m not into this new season. “This way I have a lot more free time.”
‘It wasn’t my choice. I felt a little taken aback, especially with how last season went. I feel like I really gave everything I could.”
She then revealed that one of the reasons she had been fired from the Bravo series was because she was dating Alex, who lived in Dallas.
“I was very discouraged. I got the call a few weeks before filming. The production company said, ‘You don’t seem to be in Charleston much.’
“We’re noticing on your Instagram that you’re in Texas, you have this new boyfriend, and it looks like you’re choosing a different path.”
‘I don’t think it’s choosing a different path. I’m just living my life. “My parents had just officially moved to Texas and the boyfriend thing happened very randomly,” Flowers added.
‘I’m very happy… like it was the best part that came out of that year. But did I know it was working against me or making people think I was choosing a different path? I wish there had been more communication there.”
Olivia continued, “I think that’s the part that puts me off the most.” I wanted to have another season to become more me. Last season was really tough and honestly I was just trying to keep my head above water.’
During an appearance on Scheana Shay’s Scheananigans podcast, Flowers said: ‘I’m not into this new season. So I have a lot more free time.
‘It wasn’t my choice. I felt a little taken aback, especially with how last season went. “I feel like I really gave everything I could,” he added.
“I really wanted to have another one and be a little more myself, show my personality and explore new friendships and all that.”
Last year, Flowers lost his brother Conner after he passed away at the age of 32 on January 30, 2023.
Later that year in November, he was reported to have died from an accidental fentanyl overdose, which Flowers revealed to People At the moment.
He explained that his late brother had become addicted to medications prescribed to relieve the symptoms of Lyme disease.
‘My brother hated talking about his illness. “A lot of people, even in his inner circle, didn’t know about his Lyme,” the reality star said.

‘So again, hearing that he died of a fentanyl overdose, you’d immediately assume he was partying. Conner wasn’t like that. This was a relapse. This was their means to survive.
He also reflected for the media: ‘My brother was very lively and loved bringing people together; he literally made friends everywhere we went.’
‘Even when we went on holiday, we would go to the hotel lobby for breakfast and he knew everyone by name. He was a 6’5″ beautiful boy who had the biggest heart.”
