The creators of South Park have taken help from OpenAI’s ChatGPT to create the latest installment titled ‘Deep Learning’.
The fourth episode of Season 26 shows several boys from Stan’s class using the chatbot to write essays and send text messages to girls – and the closing credits reveal that it was “written by Trey Parker and ChatGPT.”
The AI generated a speech from Stan, who stands out for its robotic sound, in which the boy argues why people shouldn’t be blamed for using ChatGPT.
“It’s the giant tech companies that have taken Open AI, packaged it, monetized it and pushed it to all of us as quickly as possible to move forward,” the character said.
And several text messages that Stan sent to his girlfriend were also generated by ChatGPT.

Deep Learning begins when South Park Elementary students discover they can use ChatGPT to do their homework and school assignments for them.
Stan notices that Clyde is getting along with the ladies recently and asks him how it is that he “knows so well what to text Bebe (Clyde’s girlfriend)”, hoping he can reconcile with Wendy.
“ChatGPT, dude,” Clyde said. “there are a ton of apps and programs you can subscribe to that use OpenAI to do all your writing for you.
“People use them to write poems, write job applications, but what they’re really good for is hanging out with chicks.”
Stan is hesitant at first, but eventually uses ChatGPT to text Wendy, who then swoons over the messages.
The episode also highlights how the students complete all their assignments using ChatGPT.
Much of the episode was written by Parker, but the last few minutes are believed to be the work of the chatbot when Wendy discovers that Stan’s messages are AI-generated.
Stan asks ChatGPT to “write a story set in South Park where a boy named Stan has to convince his girlfriend that it’s okay that he lied about using AI to text her.”

Stan sent a question to ChatGPT, which starts “thinking” and responds within seconds with a whimsical story read by the AI on the show
“Everything will be fine because he tells everyone it’s not his fault and in the end everyone agrees with him and his girlfriend has completely forgiven him.”
Stan sent the question to ChatGPT, who starts to ‘think’ and responds within seconds with a funny story.
“Once upon a time there was a boy named Stan who lived in South Park. Stan loved his girlfriend very much, but lately he hadn’t been honest with her. When Stan arrived at school one day, his best friend approached him.
Stan then finds out that Wendy was found using ChatGPT by teachers who were in an uproar about the ‘cheating’.
‘Look y’all, we can’t blame the people who use ChatGPT. It’s not their fault,’ he cried, waving his arms.
“Well, whose fault is it?” replied Mr. Garrison.

‘I’ll tell you who. It’s the giant tech companies that have taken open AI, packaged it, monetized it and pushed it to all of us as quickly as possible to move forward.
“OpenAI is so powerful that it should be something everyone can use, monitor and contribute.
“Otherwise, AI will be controlled by companies that, like Cartman, want an unfair advantage.”
Parker and Stone have expressed interest in AI before, as the duo secured a $20 million investment in their AI studio Deep Voodoo in December 2022.
But it does highlight the advancement of artificial intelligence, but also fuels fears that the chatbot is about to take over numerous jobs.
