A South Dakota woman has pleaded guilty to falsifying a rape report in Florida to try to get a free STD test after cheating on her husband, after being caught after police discovered she bought the rope she said she used herself at Walmart.
Renee Dawn Skoglund, 30, will spend two years on a form of house arrest, eight years on probation and face a fine of more than $17,000.
On March 8, Skoglund reported a sexual assault against her in Hillsborough County, Florida.
She pulled over to the side of a road she was driving on, citing car trouble, according to released 911 audio.
Skoglund later told police a man tied her arms and legs, put a towel over her head, pushed her into the car and raped her.

Skoglund was caught on surveillance footage buying the rope she used to fake a sexual assault.
Her downfall came when she became specific about the type of rope used, rope that police knew was sold at a local Walmart.
Police demanded to see surveillance video, which led them to discover footage of Skoglund herself buying the rope.
“As a result of this discovery, detectives have recovered video footage of multiple locations visited by Ms. Skoglund during the time surrounding the attack, refuting her initial statements,” the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. .
“She attempted to alter her statements before finally admitting to fabricating the whole incident.”
Ultimately, Skoglund was trying to fabricate his aggression for the purpose of testing himself for an STD following an extramarital affair.
“She had consensual sex with an individual in Hillsborough County,” prosecutor Jessica Couvertier said in court. FOX 13 reported.
“Then she felt guilty because of her marital status and she wanted to be checked for a sexually transmitted disease.”
Skoglund was charged on March 10 with misusing a 911 system, misrepresenting a crime and fabricating physical evidence.

“This case is truly disheartening,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a news release after Skoglund was charged.
“There are far too many victims facing this type of trauma. This woman took advantage of our 911 emergency line and diverted attention from the actual victims who need the viable resources available in these investigative scenarios.
