The Duchess of Edinburgh, 59, appeared in high spirits aboard a sailing boat in Guernsey today.

The Duchess of Edinburgh appeared in high spirits as she arrived on the Ocean Youth Trust South ship Prolific today.

Sophie, 59, a patron of the Association of Sailing Training Organisations, is visiting the Channel Island to watch the Guernsey to Poole small boats race.

Ahead of the event, which starts Tuesday, Sophie boarded the Ocean Youth Trust’s Prolific boat, which was established in 2005 and pays tribute to the fishing boats off the Norwegian coast during the 19th century, according to the charity’s website.

Upon arrival, Sophie wasted no time in getting to work raising a buoy on board the boat.

The mother of two, who is married to Prince Edward, sported a casual outfit, which included a light blue polo shirt and a pair of cargo shorts.

Sophie was equipped to deal with the Guernsey sun and added a pair of stylish black sunglasses once on board the boat.

The 59-year-old opted for a natural makeup look for the occasion and left her blonde locks loose.

She arrived with a Mykonos beach bag in her hand, probably a souvenir from a past vacation.

Ocean Youth Trust is a charity that offers young people the opportunity to embark on sailing adventures to aid personal development.

This comes after the Duchess of Edinburgh stunned in a chic printed dress as she joined her husband at Wembley Park Theatre for a charity event last week.

Sophie, 59, was joined by Prince Edward, 60, for a special performance of ‘Starlight Express’ in support of the Orpheus Centre.

It is a disability charity and college in Surrey for young disabled adults to learn and develop through the arts, of which Prince Edward is patron.

The mother-of-two looked radiant as she stepped out in a £280 gold silk ‘Gelato’ dress by Spanish label Matelier.

She paired the dress with a simple £110 black ‘Vintage Peacock’ purse from the same brand and a pair of small £167 earrings from Giulia Barela.

As for footwear, Sophie wore her champagne Jimmy Choo wedge sandals, valued at £575 and which she has owned since 2022.

She pulled her golden locks back into a sleek low bun to show off her entire chic ensemble and opted for a natural, glowing makeup look.

Her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, looked dapper in a black blazer with gold button detailing, grey suit trousers, a smart white shirt, polished shoes and a navy blue patterned tie.

The royal duo were joined by Sir Richard Stilgoe, chief executive of The Orpheus Centre and a composer and lyricist who has collaborated with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Peter Skellern.

The Duchess of Edinburgh appeared to be the latest royal to wear a friendship bracelet as she cheered on Team GB in Paris last week.

Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell and Katy Marchant set a new world record of 45.186 as they claimed victory over New Zealand.

The royal looked summery in a purple floral dress and, tellingly, wore a burgundy and gold beaded bracelet on her wrist.

Princess Charlotte, Prince George and even King Charles have all been spotted sporting the trinkets in recent months, and Sophie appears to be the latest member of the royal family to jump on the trend.

Charles, 75, was seen wearing what appeared to be a “friendship bracelet” made of yellow and red thread during a visit to the Channel Islands with Queen Camilla last month.

It looked similar to the one worn by Her Majesty’s nine-year-old granddaughter Princess Charlotte when she attended the Wimbledon final just weeks earlier with her mother, the Princess of Wales.

Dressed in a navy polka dot dress, Charlotte wore two of the string bracelets, one with various shades of pink and another with green, blue and pink fabric.

Many royal fans were quick to speculate that Charles’ bracelet was a gift from his granddaughter.

The King was also pictured wearing the bracelet in a jersey with Queen Camilla, as well as during his visit to the Senedd in Cardiff to mark its 25th anniversary on 11 July.

Meanwhile, eagle-eyed royal fans spotted a fun addition to Prince George’s formal ensemble in his 11th birthday portrait.

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a stunning black and white portrait, taken by Kate, to mark their special day, and in the image, a bracelet can clearly be seen above the cuff of her shirt on her left wrist. She wore it again at the Euro final with Prince William.

Like her husband, Queen Camilla was also seen wearing a bracelet during her visit to the Channel Islands.

Hers was the closest in style to those worn by Swifties, and was personalized with beads that read, “You’re a shining star.”

Charlotte and George may have been inspired by attending Taylor Swift’s concert with Prince William at Wembley Stadium in June.

The singer started the trend of friendship bracelets at her concerts, with fans making dozens of them to exchange among the audience.

The royal family has since been spotted sporting their own version of the bracelets, and Sophie is the latest member to join in.

It’s another sign that Sophie has become an integral member of the family and appears to be moving ever closer to King Charles’ inner circle.

Sophie has risen through the ranks of the Firm and is often regarded as the late Queen’s “favourite” royal.

From attending lavish banquets to standing alongside Queen Camilla on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Standard Parade, her elevated status is made known at official royal events and engagements.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are currently among the few working royals under the age of 70 (along with the Prince and Princess of Wales).

The Swifties began making the bracelets because of a lyric from the fan-favorite song You’re On Your Own Kid from the singer’s album Midnights: “So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and try it on / You’ve got no reason to be afraid.”

Fans have been exchanging beaded friendship bracelets, which often feature phrases from her lyrics.

The real versions are not believed to be exactly the same as those performed by fans attending Taylor’s concerts.

The bracelets the Swifties exchange tend to feature letter beads that spell out our lyrics and song names, while Charlotte, George, and Charles’ accessories are made from solid-colored thread.
