North Melbourne president Dr Sonja Hood has deleted her X account after being subjected to “disgusting” abuse on the social media platform.
Hood is understood to have received a slew of negative messages from fed up fans online as the Kangaroos have lost four straight games this AFL season.
As a result, Hood It no longer has an online presence.
AFL reporter Tom Morris called the level of abuse Hood suffered “vile”.

“She has been forced to delete her Twitter account in recent days simply because of the vile abuse she has been enduring,” she told Footy Classified on Wednesday.
“She’s had threats in North Melbourne, because of the way they’re playing, people tagging her in tweets so they know she’s going to see them.”
North Melbourne were defeated by the Brisbane Lions by 70 points in round four during the Gather Round in Adelaide.
It was their largest deficit of the season to date.
Hood later admitted to Morris that he “doesn’t feel the need to be a part of that world” following the avalanche of criticism.
The Roos have been struggling mightily since Hood was appointed chairman in 2022, but last year’s appointment of four-time premiership-winning coach Alastair Clarkson gave long-suffering fans some optimism.
In April last year, Hood made a welcome return to football after being declared cancer-free.
In an open letter posted on the Kangaroos website, Hood said specialists had given her the all-clear after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
She replaced Ben Buckley on the Arden St bench in February 2022, joining Peggy O’Neal (Richmond), Kate Roffey (Melbourne) and Kylie Watson-Wheeler (Western Bulldogs) as club presidents at that time.
On Sunday, Alastair Clarkson’s failed troops take on unbeaten Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, arguably the toughest away trip in the competition.
