Double killer Rurik Jutting found guilty of 'sadistic' murder of two Indonesian women

The son of a woman who was tortured and murdered by British banker Rurik Jutting has said he will ‘never forgive’ the ‘evil’ killer for what he did and demanded he take responsibility for his crimes.

Jutting, a double killer, was jailed for life in 2016 for the “sadistic” murders of two Indonesian women, Sumarti Ningsih and Seneng Mujiasih, in his luxury Hong Kong apartment ten years ago.

Sumarti, who was 23 when she was brutally massacred, was held captive and beaten by Jutting for days before slitting her throat, filming her horrific ordeal throughout.

Before becoming one of Jutting’s victims, Sumarti was the “breadwinner” of his family back home and had left his one-month-old son Mohammed and his parents to earn a living and help them out of poverty.

Now a teenager, Mohammed Hafidz Arnovan has spoken about how his mother’s death continues to haunt him, as well as his anger towards Jutting.

“He took my mother, I will never forgive him. He’s mean,” the 14-year-old said. The mirror from his village of Gandrungmangu, in Central Java.

He continued: “I’m angry. Because of him, I lost my mother.

Sumarti worked in Hong Kong as a domestic worker and in the sex industry to supplement her income and support her family back home since 2010.

His family now lives in poverty, without the essential monthly payments they would send home, and is unable to pay for Mohammed’s education.

Sumarti’s mother continues to be heartbroken over the loss of her daughter and asks Jutting, “Why did he do this to my daughter?” I thought he looked like an animal, he’s not a human. He is nasty.

“He didn’t need to kill her, I can never forgive him.” Even now my heart is broken. My daughter is gone and I can’t forgive her. He did terrible things to her.

The 58-year-old continued: “He should never be released. He will kill again. The British government never even contacted us to express their sympathy. We didn’t hear anything.

Sumarti’s family has demanded that Jutting or his relatives pay them compensation, but say the ex-banker, now in his 40s, declared himself bankrupt to avoid paying.

Since Sumarti had gone to work in Hong Kong on a tourist visa, her family is not entitled to compensation from the local authorities.

They criticized the British government for failing to support them and repeatedly threatened to take Jutting to court.

Chilling details of Jutting’s sickening murders emerged during his trial, including 43 videos showing him torturing his victims and confess to his heinous crimes.

Several jurors could barely watch the films, which showed the body of Sumarti, his first victim, lying on the ground with his throat slit.

In a 20-minute video, Jutting could be heard saying: “How much do you love me. If you say yes, I will hit you once. If you say no, I will hit you twice. If you scream, I will hit you.

In another, he tells the camera: “It’s Monday night, I’ve been holding her captive since Saturday morning. I raped her repeatedly, I tortured her, I tortured her severely.

In sentencing Jutting in 2016, the judge described the killer’s “psychopathic traits”.

The Surrey-born killer, a former £350,000-a-year trader at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, had claimed he was driven mad by drugs and alcohol when he committed the murders in October 2014.

Two leading British psychiatrists came from the United Kingdom to testify and said Jutting also suffered from narcissistic personality disorder and sexual sadism disorder.

While imprisoned, the depraved murderer said: “I remain haunted daily by the memory of my actions and the knowledge of the acute pain I caused their loved ones, including Sumarti Ningshi’s young son, now orphan.

“The harm I have inflicted can never be undone by words or actions. Still, for what it may be worth, I’m sorry.
