The grieving son of alleged murder victim Sarah Miles has said the sight of his mother lying “on the floor for an hour” waiting for help will haunt him “for the rest of his life”.
Shayden Miles’ mother died at her home in Casino, northern New South Wales, after it reportedly took police 55 minutes to arrive at the house following the mother-of-three’s emergency call.
Ms Miles was “still breathing” at around 2.25am last Saturday when police finally arrived to a call at 1.30am, but by the time paramedics arrived she had died at the scene.
The 40-year-old woman died from head and facial injuries allegedly inflicted by her partner Dwayne John Creighton, who was arrested and charged with murder at the weekend.
Shayden told Channel Nine: “My mother was a very strong person, a fighter always until the end.
“There are no words to describe the pain I feel right now,” he said.
‘It’s not just the loss, it’s the fact that she was waiting for an hour on the floor and that is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
“I am very proud of her and proud to have her as a mother and I am proud to have been her son.”

NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley described the incident, the 47th suspected domestic violence murder this year, as “horrific” and said domestic violence crime was one of her “top priorities”.
