‘Has Kane moved yet?’: Son Heung-min hits back at reporters when asked about his Tottenham team-mate’s future as he insists ‘not everything has been decided’ with the English star’s future at stake

  • Manchester City are interested in signing the 27-year-old England captain
  • Kane and Son Heung-min broke a record in 2020-21 for most target combinations

Tottenham forward Son Heung-min has hit back after suggestions that club-mate Harry Kane could leave the club this summer in a mega-money deal.

The 27-year-old Spurs striker has been linked with a departure from north London this summer after becoming frustrated with the club’s failure to land silverware since breaking into the first team in the 2013-14 season.

He has scored a remarkable 221 goals in that span without a single trophy, but Premier League champions Manchester City are interested in signing the England captain for £150m following the departure of Sergio Aguero.

Kane and Son, 28, broke a 25-year record for most goal combinations in a single Premier League season in 2020/21 in March, together for a 14th goal of the campaign against Crystal Palace.

The latter has come back and insisted that nothing was decided when asked if the former could move on and break their partnership.

South Korean international Son – currently absent from World Cup qualifiers ahead of the games against Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and Lebanon – told reporters: ‘Has Kane moved yet?

‘Not everything is decided. Instead of worrying about his transfer, I’m doing my best at Tottenham.

“I want to focus on the national team and Tottenham. Maybe Kane will do the same, he is busy preparing for the European Championship.’

Sports post Meanwhile, Tottenham understand talks have been held with Antonio Conte regarding their vacancy as head coach, with the Italian emerging as a strong contender for the job.

The Spurs still have no manager, despite Jose Mourinho’s resignation on April 19 after missing two main targets Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers.

It is clear that the first contact between former Chelsea manager Conte – who walked away from Inter Milan two weeks ago after taking the Serie A title – and Tottenham has taken place with both sides open to a deal.

But Son declined to discuss the possible appointment of the former Chelsea boss, claiming he would give his all for anyone who ends up in the hot seat.

“I can’t talk about that subject,” Son added.

‘Conte hasn’t arrived yet, I have to be careful. It has not been confirmed and I don’t know if Spurs will find a new coach or not. I will do my best in every situation in my position.’
