A father has died after his son allegedly stabbed him in the neck at a home in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to a house on Layton Street in Wentworthville about 6.30am on Thursday following reports of a stabbing.

Officers found George Vaz, 64, who had been stabbed in the neck, according to 9NEWS.

Despite the assistance of paramedics, the man died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and an investigation was launched.

Vaz’s wife, 60, was also home at the time of the incident, but was not injured.

His 34-year-old son, Shayne Vaz, was arrested shortly after and taken to the Granville police station.

Police believe the three people know each other.

The man was charged Thursday with domestic violence murder.

Detective Danny Doherty called the incident “sad” on Thursday.

“Unfortunately…there is a family member who is now deceased,” Detective Doherty said.

“We believe this is another sad home-related incident.”

The 34-year-old was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
