‘Somerset Gimp’ faces new charges: A man accused of terrifying women by jumping at them on country lanes wearing a black latex suit is being judged by prosecutors

A man accused of being the Somerset Gimp faces new charges after the case against him was dropped.
Joshua Hunt, 31, has been charged with two counts of assault and one count each of possessing a bladed item and committing an act of decency.
One of the allegations of brawling and possession of a bladed item related to an incident in Bleadon, near Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, on 9 May.
The second charge of insult related to an incident in the same area on May 7, while the charge of outrageous public decency related to an incident in Cleeve on October 25 last year.

The allegations related to a series of incidents involving someone wearing a black gimp suit in northern Somerset.
A spokesman for the prosecution said the new charges related to the same incidents.
“The charges against Joshua Hunt have been reviewed in accordance with the Crown Prosecutors Code and proceedings at Bristol Crown Court have been completed,” he said.

Proceedings have been initiated in respect of two alternative charges which contravene the Public Order Act 1986 and Mr Hunt will appear before the North Somerset Magistrates’ Court on 18 July 2023.
“The CPS reminds all involved that Joshua Hunt has a criminal case pending and that he has the right to a fair trial.
“It is extremely important that there is no online reporting, commenting or sharing of information that could harm this procedure in any way.”
Hunt, from Claverham, Somerset, was due to stand trial at Bristol Crown Court in November.
