Two social media users have provided similar tricks for dying Easter eggs with very difficult degrees of success.
Two TikTok users, @athomewithshannon and @tiktokuuss123, showed off their own egg dying tricks that resulted in very different eggs from each other.
User @athomewithshannon, whose real name is Shannon Doherty, colored eggs created in an aluminum tray, food coloring and shaving cream. While @tiktokuuss123’s trick consisted of food coloring, shaving cream, a carton of eggs and boiled water.
Doherty’s March 9 video has received almost 3 million views, while the other user’s March 20 TikTok It reached just over 380,000.
One video had users loving it, while the other left commenters wanting their three minutes back.
TikTokers are getting into Easter and two users posted videos of their tricks for dying Easter eggs, one works better than the other.
Poster @tiktokuuss123’s trick consisted of food coloring, shaving cream, a carton of eggs, and boiled water. Doherty also used food coloring and shaving cream in her video.
Doherty’s video stood out this year with its ‘genius Easter egg coloring trick.’
The influencer covered a tray with shaving cream and added drops of three different food colorings to the tray.
“This trick is really amazing and they turned out really pretty,” Doherty said.
All he did after filling his tray with shaving cream and food coloring was put hard-boiled eggs in his eggs, let them sit, and turned them over.
“I can’t get over how easy this was and it wasn’t even that complicated,” he said.
Doherty created nine Easter eggs that are primarily blue and pink and her trick has been a hit with TikTokers.
Doherty called his Easter egg dying trick ‘genius’ and his video received positive reviews from TikTokers in the comments section.
Doherty is a social media influencer who has racked up nearly 3 million views since posting her video earlier this month.
TikTok users have complimented Doherty on his eggs and have also written their own Easter tricks.
‘I had no idea: doing this with my children! Thank you,” wrote one TikTok user.
Others have called Doherty’s eggs “beautiful” and “wonderful” and have even complimented her special egg dish she used for the presentation.
Unfortunately, not everyone was as successful with the shaving cream trick.
The @tiktokuuss123 poster video was a two and a half minute long video that left more than 200 TikTok commenters upset.
Unlike Doherty, the TikToker gave no verbal instructions throughout the video and used an egg carton instead of a tray.
He closed the egg tray filled with shaving cream and food coloring over the eggs twice and then dipped each into boiling water.
The eggs, which were also blue and pink, were not as colorful despite being what he said was “an easy way to dye eggs.”
The egg carton also had excess shaving cream on it, which made for a very complicated egg dye trick.
Poster @tiktokuuss123 used an egg carton instead of a tray and submerged the eggs in boiling water. The eggs came out much less colorful, but the video received almost 400,000 views.
TikTokers who commented on @tiktokuuss123’s video dismissed it, and several users wrote that they wasted three minutes of their time watching it.
—All that for the worst colored eggs ever? wrote one TikTok user.
More than one user wrote that they wasted time watching the video and want their three minutes back. One person commented that the ‘trick’ was complicated and was no easier than traditional methods.
“We have very different definitions of what easy means,” wrote one TikTok user.
Although the comments on the second video were extremely negative, one user wrote that he cheered them up with a laugh.
