The new trailer for the live-action version of Disney from The Lion King debuted to a lot of fanfare on Wednesday, but not everyone is satisfied.
Namely, fans looking forward to seeing how angry, scary and menacing scar in the new film would be, express disappointment about its mange, malnourished appearance.
Hundreds have persuaded social media to complain that live action Scar is not as attractive as in the 1994 animated film, based on his short appearance in the new preview clip.
Now available: Disney has unveiled a new trailer for the live action version of The Lion King this week
Bad guy: Scar (voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor) opens the trailer with the words: & # 39; Life isn't fair, it's my little friend. Others spend their lives in the dark and beg for leftovers & # 39;
A real lion: the malicious uncle has surprised some fans by looking very different from the animated film
Scar, spoken by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is only briefly seen in the two-minute trailer, which opens with its voice-over.
# Life is not fair, is it my little friend? While some are born to party, others spend their lives in the dark with begging for leftovers, & he says.
The camera lets Scar speak in cave in Simba while the hyenas gather around him.
But even that quick glimpse – and even a shorter one later in the trailer – has given fans a clear impression. And some are not impressed.
& # 39; Animated scar rolls into his animated grave after seeing his live-action counterpart, & # 39; wrote one.
& # 39; They have scars and look like they & # 39; eat hot cheetos in the morning, & another one joked.
Epic: The opening scene in the trailer shows Scar in conversation with Simba (photo, voiced by Donald Glover)
Signed: the characters, shown in CGI, of course look very different than in the 1994 film
& # 39; I have seen the Lion King trailer. S *** is pure Mufasa propaganda. They had scar looking dry and malnourished, as that man wasn't a bad b *** in the animated film, & yet another one wrote.
& # 39; His hairline will be the most tragic part of the film & # 39 ;, a fan joked.
Some humorously noted Scar & # 39; s charisma in the animated version, saying that the CGI lion has none of this.
& # 39; Just look at the lion king trailer and I am disgusted that the scar is not sexy, goth or gay. just an ugly lion! what's the point, & # 39; wrote one.
& # 39; Live-action scar isn't badly sexy like the original Lion King cartoon babe was, so I'm gone & # 39 ;, another wrote.
Most complaints seem to be that Scar, the evil villain who kills Mufasa and takes over the animal kingdom, seems neither threatening nor powerful.
How is that scary? Fans mainly express disappointment about Scar on Twitter and say that he looks scabby and malnourished
But others seem to have more problems with the fact that this live action version cannot deliver the same theatrical version as the original.
& # 39; I'm all for the lion king remake, (mainly from Donald Glover), but these two photos emphasize how having cartoon characters with live action limits the display of emotions & # 39 ;, wrote a passionate fan, sharing a comparison of both versions of Scar side by side.
& # 39; Apart from the scar, it only looks like the other lions in the trailer, & # 39; the fan continued. "How should I keep them apart or connect with them. Animation makes for more exaggerated facial expressions that distinguish them from each other and is why we make contact with them.
& # 39; Tbh the new Lion King trailer just looks so devoid of personality & # 39 ;, another agreed. & # 39; In the Jungle Book the animals had some unique features in their designs, here they look so generic. I hardly recognized Zazu and I saw Scar in front of Mufasa. & # 39;
That's right! However, some people point out that this version is more accurate
Although the critics were vocal, not everyone in the remake is angry about Scar. Indeed, several have pointed out that this famished, morbid-looking scar is scientifically more accurate.
& # 39; It is actually correct, & # 39; explained one. & # 39; Lions with longer and darker moons are the dominant males in a pride. Shorter, lighter manes indicate young lions or the non-dominant man.
& # 39; Scar should look weak and thinner than Mufasa & # 39 ;, another wrote. He and Mufasa also fought canon against his scars in the past. & # 39;
& # 39; Current scar quote & # 39; … when it came to my brain, I got the lion's share, but when it comes to brute force, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool, & # 39; & # 39; wrote one more. & # 39; Why are you all surprised that it looks scabby? & # 39;
