With an ultra-modern infra-red sauna, in-house massages and bathrooms that are more opulent than a five-star hotel, it is no surprise that a new fitness club in Sydney is already being praised as Australia’s most luxurious gym.
SOMA Collection did not open its doors in the center of Sydney until the end of 2019, but it quickly attracted a clientele of fitness enthusiasts who wanted to work out in luxurious surroundings.
Inside the gilded doors is an oasis of lush tranquility, with training studios that play more than 100 classes of boxing, Pilates, barre and yoga, and spa treatment rooms where members can enjoy relaxing or recuperating massages upon request.
Spacious dressing rooms are filled with all imaginable tools and toiletries, including award-winning Dyson hair dryers, hair clips and ties, cotton buds and mouthwash to freshen up after training.

In classes, up to 18 participants can maintain an intimate atmosphere between clients and trainers.
A valet is permanently ready to deliver sweat towels after sessions, which means you don’t have to worry about putting in a sports bag for work.
An infrared sauna, which claims to detoxify the body, provide relief from joint pain, stimulate weight loss and improve sleep, skin and circulation, works throughout the day, so you don’t have to make a reservation in advance.

Guests can connect to speakers in the sauna to enjoy personal playlists while they sweat, and there is even a wall of charging ports where phones can be left during classes or treatments.
The foyer, designed by Surry Hills interior design specialists Grant Design, is equipped with mahogany wall panels, soft midnight blue armchairs and soft lighting – far removed from the cold, clinical reception areas of standard gym chains.

SOMA was co-founded by Franco Atashi, Amy Atashi and Simon Anderson and was designed with a very specific high-quality business customer base in mind.
Mr. Anderson hoped to create a unique space that is akin to a luxury spa, where members can get in touch with trainers and therapists first.
SOMA Collection is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, with no opening times on Sundays or public holidays.
