2022 in the field of cybersecurity
Cybercriminals had a pretty busy 2022, according to recent findings. According to the annual report from Israeli cybersecurity company Perception Point, there was a 356% growth in sophisticated phishing attacks by malicious actors worldwide.
What frightens me is how often these attacks take advantage of the weakest link: us humans. For example, the report shows an 83% year-over-year growth in business email compromise attempts (BEC).
“In these attacks,” the report explains, “cybercriminals use fake emails to impersonate legitimate companies and solicit large sums of money or confidential information from employees or business partners.”
