The lawyer who helped Jarryd Hayne overcome a rape conviction has hit out at the former NRL star who became embroiled in the GWS ‘Wacky Wednesday’ party scandal.
Hayne, 36, was released from prison on June 12 after his convictions were overturned, having spent more than a year behind bars after a jury found him guilty in April 2023 of two counts of sexual intercourse. without consent.

However, Hayne was back in the news after GWS player Josh Fahey dressed up as him during his club’s controversial end-of-season party.

Fahey was one of 13 Giants players punished for their participation in the controversial party.
Margaret Cunneen SC, the lawyer handling Hayne’s appeal, criticized the incident.
“It is regrettable that Mr. Hayne’s face is used in the reporting of this costume party, given the restoration of his good character and the overturning of his conviction by the Court of Criminal Appeals,” Cunneen said. News Corporation.
