‘Arsenal are collapsing!’: Social media RIPS in the Gunners after loss to Nottingham Forest handed Man City the Premier League title… as fans point to ‘eight-point threat’ Mikel’s side Arteta once had
Arsenal have been branded a ‘job’ by social media users, after their defeat at Nottingham Forest earned Manchester City the 2022-23 Premier League title.
The Gunners have been in the title hunt for a long time with Pep Guardiola’s side and looked to be in a strong position to lift the top-flight trophy just a few weeks ago.
Mikel Arteta’s side held an eight-point lead in March but, after a series of poor results in recent weeks, they have been overtaken by eventual winners City.
The title race ended on Saturday night when the Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss to Forest which means – mathematically – they cannot catch City.
And, in the aftermath, social media users were quick to tear up Arteta’s side and suggest they had “collapsed” under the pressure of their break-in.

After the match, social media were quick to mock the Gunners’ failed title charge
A video on ICT Tac went particularly viral as it featured a collection of memes that poked fun at the Gunners’ late-season performances.
One of the images showed a “Jammie Dodgers” package which had been altered to say “Title Dodgers” and added an Arsenal logo to the front.
At the bottom of the packet, he reminded fans that the Gunners were “eight points clear” just a few weeks ago.
Another referenced Arsenal’s Amazon Prime documentary which featured their 2021-22 campaign. It was titled ‘All or Nothing’, but fans edited the image to say ‘It all came to nothing’.
The next image showed a Prime Energy Bottle. The popular drink, founded by YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul, joined forces with the Gunners in July last year.
British star KSI has claimed that if Arsenal win the league then Prime will release a limited edition drink with the Gunners’ branding on it.
However, since they didn’t claim the title, we won’t see it released. But some fans were quick to edit an image of the Arsenal-branded Prime drink and suggest it was a ‘bottle edition’.
Another meme featured an apple crumble and changed the club logo to it before renaming it “Arsenal crumble”.
The final image showed a modified beer can that had been called “Surrender Ale”. It suggested the drink had been ‘brewed at Woolwich for W******’ and bore the Arsenal logo on the front.

The Gunners slid to a disappointing loss to Forest which, in turn, ensured the hosts’ Premier League survival.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal at the City Ground after being slipped by Morgan Gibbs-White and converted past Aaron Ramsdale in the first half.
The result worsened a miserable run-in for the Gunners who were held to a draw against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton before being beaten 4-1 by Man City.
City players held a watch party at the team’s training lodge and were seen celebrating wildly after the final whistle in Nottingham.
